0410L-SATURDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT-4/1/23

* IT WAS A CRAZY DAY. Once fires started out there yesterday, it got extremely crazy. We had around 12 incidents within 4 hours from power poles snapped to arcing power lines starting grass fires, to accidents with injury, to a major fire in eastern Garfield County, and structure fire overnight. It was a CRAZY DAY! All Garfield County Fire Departments were active yesterday afternoon and evening on many calls.

* The Fire danger yesterday was extreme because of the winds. On the larger fire in eastern Garfield County, we had 13 fire departments from Garfield, Noble, and Logan Counties, along with commissioners with graders working that fire. It burned approximately 2500 acres. It may have been more. We had around 25 fire apparatus and several graders along with roughly 50 responders and an ambulance from Miller EMS. Thank you to all that responded to every incident yesterday. I will post some pics and video’s a little later after editing. Language at times was rough. It was a crazy day.

*Weather-wise, winds today will be lighter than yesterday with northwest winds 10-15 mph gusting to 20 mph or so. THE FIRE DANGER will continue for the next several days.

*Overall, we’ll be ok so here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN:

Today- Sunny, with a high near 65. North northwest wind 9 to 14 mph becoming light west northwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 22 mph.

Tonight-Mostly clear, with a low around 45. South southeast wind 8 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

HAVE A GOOD DAY!
