A Heat Advisory remains in effect until 8:00 PM today. Hot temperatures combined with high humidity will create dangerous conditions for anyone spending extended time outdoors. Drink plenty of water, take frequent breaks in the shade or air conditioning, and check on children, older adults, and pets.
Expect another hot summer day across our area with afternoon temperatures climbing to around 100°. While most locations will stay dry through much of the day, there is a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly this morning, before skies become mostly sunny this afternoon. Southwest winds will increase to 15–20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.
Severe Weather Potential This Evening
Our area remains under a Marginal (Level 1 of 5) risk for severe thunderstorms later today and tonight.
Timing
- Round 1: 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM is the most likely window for storm development across our area, with storms moving southeast at 10–20 mph.
- Round 2: A second round of storms may move into our area between 9:00 PM and 1:00 AM. Storms will continue moving southeast at 20–30 mph.
Primary Hazards
- Wind gusts up to 70 mph
- Hail up to quarter size
- Very low tornado potential, but not zero
Tonight will remain warm with lows only falling into the upper 70s. Skies will be partly cloudy with a 20% chance of an isolated shower or thunderstorm. Winds will remain breezy through the evening with gusts up to 30 mph before gradually decreasing after midnight.
