0245L-FRIDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT 02/09/24

DOWNLOAD OUR GARFIELD COUNTY EM APP AND KEEP UP WITH ADVISORIES AND WARNINGS FROM US AND THE NWS/NORMAN.

*TODAY, will be another nice warm day with gusty west-southwest winds. The Fire Danger still exists so there should be NO controlled burning today. This evening, we’ll have a cold front push in dropping temps down to near normal. Temps overnight tonight will remain in the mid 30’s.

*SATURDAY- as cloudy conditions move in, temps will be in the mid to upper 40’s with strong north winds. Rain chances increase in the latter part of the afternoon and evening hours. Overnight lows Saturday night will be in the low to mid 30’s.

*SUNDAY- rain chances continue overnight and as temps fall by early Sunday morning, there may be a changeover to snow depending on temps both aloft and at the surface. Models, per guidance, are still not in total agreement but they should be coming together later today and into Saturday. The storm track is NOT set in stone yet so when you look at graphics, just remember that those edges are not smooth.

*Finally, the storm system in question is still near Alaska right now so there are still variables to be looked at. I would be prepared for that possibility for snow early Sunday through the day into early Monday. Snow totals for us won’t be determined until its over but “projected” totals MIGHT be from 1 to 4 inches depending on the track. Variants of the track will determine who gets what, how much, & where.

*OVERALL for today, we’ll be ok so here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Today- Mostly sunny. Highs in the mid-60s. Southwest winds 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.

Tonight-Mostly cloudy. Lows in the mid-30s. West winds around 10 mph, becoming north after midnight.

HAVE A GOOD DAY!
