0315L-THURSDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT 02/08/24

*Mostly sunny with strong winds is basically the weather today. Winds will shift from southeasterly to west-southwest bringing in some dryer air. This will bring the Fire Danger into play. Even though ERC value, energy release component, is low, this will be a mitigating factor. Either way, today is NOT A GOOD DAY for any controlled burning.

Overall, we may see the warmest day of the week with highs near 70. We’ll see how this pans out. Now, for the weekend; SNOW is possible. A cold front will push in on Friday bringing cooler temps into the area. Sunday morning we’ll be around 32 for a low and if any precip is falling, we could see a changeover to snow. DON’T HOLD YOUR BREATH YET BECAUSE MODELS ARE NOT IN TOTAL AGREEMENT as to timing and storm track yet. We’ll see what happens.

*Overall, we’ll be ok so we’ll see how the weekend mess comes together. Personally, I was enjoying the warmer weather. Here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Today- Sunny, breezy with highs in the upper 60s. Southwest winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.

Tonight- Clear. Lows in the upper 30s. South winds around 10 mph.

HAVE A GOOD DAY!!
