0310L-FRIDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT-6/23/23

*HEAT will be the biggest threat over the next few days. Temps will be in the 90s but the heat index will be around 100 or a bit higher, especially on Saturday. We will have a chance for rain again today but it’s a low chance. You will need to pace yourselves if working outdoors and stay hydrated.

*Per my fireworks post yesterday: It’s the law concerning firing them on a county road. I don’t make the law but it’s there for YOUR protection. If you start a fire, you can be held accountable for the response and damage. A farmers livelihood is at stake along with the potential for substantial damage. GET PERMISSION to fire them on a property where the danger of a large fire is minimal or zero. In Enid, it’s illegal to fire them anywhere. If you want those details, call an Enid Fire Marshall and they’ll be happy to help you out with that.

* You may see rural fire folks, maybe me, and sheriff deputies out and about around the 4th to remind you concerning fireworks on county roads. If you encounter me, I will advise you of the law but I can’t issue tickets. Deputies can. We are there for YOUR SAFETY and to minimize the possibility of fires. Just don’t buy fireworks without a plan. It’s safer that way.

*Overall, we’ll be ok so here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Friday- Mostly sunny. A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms in the morning. Highs in the upper 80s. Southeast winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Friday Night- Partly cloudy. Humid with lows in the lower 70s. Southeast winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.
