0320L-FRIDAY OUTLOOK AND INFO FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT-9/30/22

1- EXTREME DROUGHT CONDITIONS EXIST as we move out of September into early October. It doesn’t feel like early fall but this isn’t the first time this has happened either. It will cool down and we will see winter conditions sometime before next Spring. I have to give myself some latitude here.

2- I know you all are tired of the near same ole information but there really isn’t anything major happening here. That said, we have moved from SEVERE drought conditions into the EXTREME category so please use extreme caution while utilizing anything related to fire. If you see any smoke and or fire, call 911 immediately so the proper response can be sent.

3- Have you looked over your residence and your cabinets to see if you are ready for winter? Have you sealed off those areas where air leaks in or out around windows, doors, outlets, and light switches? I can’t stress this enough to get this done now before the colder air arrives. It’s easier to do this while it’s warm than when we are under winter conditions. Grocery shopping is easier when it warmer too. If you’re not prepared, take the time to BE PREPARED.

4- OVERALL, we’ll be ok so here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Friday- Sunny. Highs in the lower 80s. South winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.

Friday Night- Partly cloudy. Lows in the lower 50s. Southeast winds 5 to 10 mph.

HAVE A GOOD DAY!
