0255L-MONDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT-6/19/23

* The rain is over for several days and the HEAT IS ON! Temps will be in the 90’s for the most part but the HEAT INDEX will be near or around 100. Those that work outside will most likely be those that can adjust to the heat fairly well but remember to hydrate properly. I will post some of those “properly” items in the coming days, but for now, pop and energy drinks aren’t the wise thing to do this with. MORE LATER.

* The wind did considerable damage to power lines and in some cases personal property over the last several days. I was in Tulsa and Skiatook yesterday and there were many very large trees uprooted and powerlines down. Electrical workers will be working hard to get all that mess rebuilt as soon as they can. We lost some around here too but not as severe as they did in the Tulsa area. Be patient as crews work to restore power. In some areas, it may take a while.

*WEATHER-WISE, Heat will become an issue so pace yourselves outdoors and take a few more breaks. If you start to feel weird, stop and evaluate what’s going on before continuing. Get medical help if needed.

*Overall, we’ll be ok so here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Today- Sunny. Highs in the mid-90s. Southeast winds 10 to 15 mph.

Tonight- Mostly clear. Lows in the lower 70s. Southeast winds 10 to 15 mph.

*Be sure to download our GARFIELD COUNTY EM app. You’re NOT PREPARED without it. Here is a link to both links to get our app- https://gcem.org/garfield-county-em/
