0310L- MONDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT 05/20/24

We are in a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 0600L. This may be expired before that time due to storms being out of our area. We’ll see what happens. For Monday, we will be in a GENERAL Thunderstorm Risk area so just keep that in mind as we go through the day. The higher risks will be in Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa, and areas around those states.

*Last night was exciting! Large hail fell in the Enid Area. Will have to wait until light to do any damage assessment. I ended up with 2 inch hail here at home. There were several reports of quarter size hail and a few larger. If you all have ANY damage, take pictures, and send them to me at mike@gcem.org  We also had a HEAT BURST in the Kremlin and Hillsdale areas. Tree limbs were reported down and a power pole was snapped. Please report with pictures, if possible, any damage you may have received from this event too.

*We were on the lucky side that we didn’t have any tornadic activity here but others weren’t so lucky. There will be damage assessments going on from western Oklahoma through the Oklahoma City area today. We’ll most likely be in a lull for any t-storm activity BUT we’ll keep that eye out. Tuesday looks to be another severe weather day so get some rest.

Overall, we’ll be ok so here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Today- Mostly sunny. Highs in the lower 90s. South winds 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.

Tonight- Partly cloudy in the evening, then clearing. Lows in the lower 70s. South winds 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.

*GARFIELD COUNTY EM is our notification app. Keep up with the latest from GCEM and the NWS, in detail. Today is a good day to download it if you don’t have it.

HAVE A GOOD DAY!!
