0400L-MONDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT 5/8/23

*We are in a MARGINAL RISK AREA for severe weather later today and tonight. Parameters are pretty much the same as they have been as the southern half of the state is in a better area for storms. THAT SAID, this week will be interesting as we’ll have a cold front push through this morning along with the formation of the dryline out west. This cold front will back as a warm front and be that boundary of focus for storm activity. A strong cap above us could prevent storms here but it’s not out of the question that the cap could be overcome by diurnal heating and convergence of the above boundaries. IF STORMS DO OCCUR this week, large hail, damaging winds, and torrential rainfall would be the MAIN threats. We’ll see what happens.

Overall, we’ll be ok so here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Today-Sunny. Highs in the upper 80s. Northwest winds 5 to 10 mph, becoming northeast this afternoon.

Tonight-Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Lows in the lower 60s. East winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 40 percent.
