0300L-SATURDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT- 2/15/25

We have the first of a few fronts that will traverse the area headed our way. The first one will be sometime this morning with the “possibility” of some rainfall by late morning and then a changeover to some snow this afternoon. We don’t expect any major impacts with the snow. Winds will become a factor with some northerly gusts upwards of 35 mph. Drive carefully!

Skipping to Tuesday, the bottom begins to fall out. Arctic air begins filtering in behind another front early Tuesday morning along with a very good chance for snow. Temps will be dropping dramatically and so will the wind chill. We could see wind chill temps as low as MINUS 20 by Wednesday morning. You all know what that means. Dangerously cold temps could cause frostbite to occur within 15-20 minutes. This will be the coldest air we have had so far this year. Use EXTREME CAUTION THIS WEEK while outdoors.

Overall, we’ll be ok so here’s your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Today-Mostly cloudy. A slight chance of rain this morning, then a chance of rain, snow and freezing rain this afternoon. Blustery with highs around 40. Temperature falling into the lower 30s this afternoon. Northwest winds 15 to 20 mph, becoming north 20 to 25 mph this afternoon. Gusts up to 40 mph. Chance of precipitation 50 percent.

Tonight-Mostly cloudy with a slight chance of snow in the evening, then partly cloudy after midnight. Brisk, colder with lows around 17. North winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph. Chance of snow 20 percent.
