0350L-SATURDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT-6/19/21

1- Hot again today with south winds gusting upwards of 25 mph. Use extreme caution utilizing anything related to fire and DO NOT THROW CIGARETTE BUTTS OUT the window of any moving vehicle. Humidity will be low and that could be enough to start a fire. Call 911 if you see smoke or fire.

2- There is an outside chance we could see some rainfall late Sunday night into Monday. The models are not in total agreement so we’ll have to wait and see what actually happens. Gusty winds are due to an inbound cold front that will arrive sometime later Sunday night. Winds on Sunday could gust upwards of 30 mph. It will be a little dirty out there due to harvest. Humidity will be up on Sunday so the heat index will be up some too. Monday and Tuesday highs will be in the 80s!

3- Overall, continue to hydrate properly so the heat doesn’t get the better of you and take breaks. At least the wind will help cool you off and if you’re not careful, dry you out.

4- Here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Saturday-Sunny and hot, with a high near 100. South southwest wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Saturday Night-Mostly clear, with a low around 74. South wind 10 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Here is the law on fireworks and I will be posting this most likely everyday through the 4th of July:

FIREWORKS- TITLE 68, Article 16-Fireworks, Section 1627- It shall be unlawful to explode or ignite fireworks within five hundred feet of any church, hospital, asylum, unharvested, flammable agricultural crop, public school or where fireworks are stored, sold, or offered for sale. No person shall ignite or discharge any permissible articles of fireworks within or throw the same from a motor vehicle; nor shall any person place or throw any ignited article of fireworks into or at such vehicle or at or near any group of people.

Have a good day and stay safe.
