0335L-THURSDAY UPDATE FROM ENID/GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT-7/12/18

1-HEADLINE: THE HEAT WILL CONTINUE BUT IT APPEARS WE WILL STAY JUST BELOW “HEAT ADVISORY” LEVELS. Stay hydrated and pay close attention to how you feel while working outdoors. If you start feeling weak, get help!! See graphs below.

2-Rain chances are very low but better in southern Oklahoma. We have a better chance for rain the first of the week when a front pushes into the area. We’ll see how that works out.

3- To all our farmer friends out there: if you plan a CONTROLLED BURN, CALL IT IN to dispatch. All Fire Department numbers are listed under EMERGENCY CONTACTS on our GARFIELD COUNTY EM app. We thank you in advance.

4-At this time of the year in the late afternoon and early evening, the SUN is in a rally bad area. Almost due west causing visibility issues while driving. BE EXTRA CAUTIOUS AND SLOW DOWN AT INTERSECTIONS. Accidents are happening and most can be prevented. ALSO, TEXTING WHILE DRIVING isn’t necessary either.

5- Just think how lucky everyone is that I can’t write tickets. I could fund my budget just from tickets on those I see texting and driving. It aggravating when parents are texting and small children are in the vehicle.

6– Here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Thursday-Sunny and hot, with a high near 98. Heat index values as high as 101. South southeast wind 5 to 10 mph.

Thursday Night-Mostly clear, with a low around 74. Southeast wind 5 to 15 mph.

HAVE A SUPER DAY!!

MIKE
