0240L-TUESDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT-3/21/23

* WIND– a natural movement of air of any velocity. That velocity reached 46 mph at Lahoma and 49 at Breckenridge yesterday. It probably reached above that at times in between reporting stations. We had several fires yesterday and the winds made it a little dramatic at times but rural crews were able to put them out before getting too far out of control.

*Drought conditions have cause very dusty conditions in some areas and is causing visibility issues on the highways. If you encounter these dusty conditions, slow down, and use extreme caution. A few cars ran off the roads due to visibility so again, be very careful out there.

*The FIRE DANGER is elevated so NO CONTROLLED BURNING TODAY and if you see smoke or fire, call 911 immediately.

*Overall, we’ll be ok so enjoy the sunshine and dust for the next several days. Here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Today- Mostly cloudy with a slight chance of showers this morning, then partly sunny this afternoon. Windy with highs in the lower 70s. South winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Tonight- Mostly cloudy in the evening, then becoming partly cloudy. Breezy with lows in the mid-50s. South winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.
