0330L-FRIDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT-12/31/21

1-One more day of very mild temperatures and the bottom, literally, falls out for a couple of days. Like I have stated part of this week, the most dangerous part of this storm system will be the wind chill and the roughly 50 degree difference in high temps. Other than that, we might see some light freezing precip by way of freezing rain, sleet, and possibly snow. It won’t last too long so precip amounts should be nominal.

2-We are expecting the front to push in sometime late tonight around midnight. It could be earlier or a little later. Wind gusts by 7 am tomorrow, per guidance, could be upwards from 25-35 mph. We’ll see how all of this transpires.

3- For now, continue to prepare for bitterly cold wind chill temps and overall, we should be ok. Here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Today-Mostly cloudy until late afternoon, then a slight chance of rain showers late in the afternoon. Highs in the upper 60s. Southwest winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of showers 20 percent.

Tonight-A slight chance of rain showers in the evening, then rain showers and light freezing rain after midnight. Much colder. Lows around 16. South winds 10 to 15 mph shifting to the northeast after midnight.
