0315L-SUNDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT 11/3/24

*Download our GARFIELD COUNTY EM app. You’re NOT PREPARED without it. Our daily posts are located under the GCEM Blog icon on the app.

*We had a lot of rainfall on Saturday. I had 2.5 inches and many of you put your totals on my last post. Thank you. That helps since we are between the Mesonet sites. There were others that were just over 3 inches. Amazing that we were in an extreme drought and now we might need boats to get around. 😊

About an hour ago, the OKC area experienced tornadoes. Harrah and the Choctaw areas have sustained some damage. Search and rescue operations are in progress. Information right now is still sketchy but I am in touch with State EM in the event any resources are needed from us. These storms were a QLCS system. This means that tornadoes can form along the leading edge of squall lines ALMOST WITHOUT WARNING. This system is now out of OKC AREA and will be entering the Tulsa area within the hour.

We are in a FLOOD WATCH until Monday. During the overnight hours and up until now at 0310L WE HAVE HAD AN ADDITIONAL ¾ OF AN INCH GIVE OR TAKE. This is crazy.

We are in a Marginal risk for additional severe weather this afternoon. I will have more details when things calm down and we get updates from Norman. I will post graphics later this morning when they are updated. Its been a bit busy.

Here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Today- Cloudy with a chance of thunderstorms. A chance of showers this morning, then showers likely this afternoon. Some thunderstorms may be severe with heavy rainfall. Highs in the lower 70s. South winds 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph. Chance of rain 70 percent.

Tonight-Mostly cloudy. There is a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms in the evening, then showers likely with a chance of thunderstorms after midnight. Some thunderstorms may be severe with heavy rainfall. Lows in the upper 50s. South winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 60 percent.

Have a good day!
