0425L-THURSDAY UPDATE FROM ENID/GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT-5/3/18

1- We are in a MARGINAL/SLIGHT RISK area for severe weather today. The storm system out west that has caused this mess will slowly move east and we will continue to have that chance for thunderstorms as the day progresses. The RISKS are damaging winds, large hail, and a very low tornado risk. Don’t worry too much on this one.

2-The DRYLINE will push closer to us if not over us as that system pushes east. We are still very unstable, not the people-the atmosphere, well maybe some people,  🙂 and so the possibility will exist until the cold front pushes through sometime later tonight or on Friday. Storms may occur just about any time during the day. We’ll keep an eye out and post accordingly. The weekend looks good so far.  The FIRE DANGER will be near critical out west so continue to be careful.

3-Yesterday, we experimented by doing live broadcasts on Facebook instead of a written platform during the only severe storm we had in the county. Which one is better for you all? The video seems quicker and I can show you radar, satellite, and other info. The written might take a little longer but explaining would be a longer post. Let me know your thoughts on this.  GARFIELD COUNTY EM App information will still go out of course but let me know what you think.

4- Here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Thursday-30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 1pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 85. South southwest wind 16 to 23 mph, with gusts as high as 32 mph.

Thursday Night-Mostly clear, with a low around 54. Southwest wind 11 to 17 mph becoming northwest after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 24 mph.

HAVE A GREAT DAY AND WE’LL KEEP AN EYE TO THE SKY!
