0315L-FRIDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT 05/10/24

*GARFIELD COUNTY EM is our notification app. Keep up with the latest from GCEM and the NWS. Download it today.

*Verdict is out, we had 3 tornadoes in Garfield County last Monday the 6th of May. 2 were EF0 with winds 80-85mph 1 in the Bison area the other 5 miles ESE of Bison. The third one was in the Douglas/Covington area and it was an EF1 with winds of 105-110. On April 27, we had an EF1 in the Hillsdale area. 4 so far this year. No wonder folks are a little jumpy.

*TODAY, BETWEEN 10 AND NOON, MOST LIKELY BETWEEN 10 AND 11, we will be testing “new equipment” to set off our newer storm sirens. The new speaker sirens you see out there self test each day and we know when there’s a problem. Since it may rain next week, we’ll do the testing today. The sirens will go off twice, once from my office, then 911 dispatch. We’ll also do a verbal test. Just wanted to let you all know here in Enid. No need to panic, it’s only a test.

We are also testing using a laptop to do live broadcasts on social media to give you a clearer look at what we are looking at. We’ll get better at as we move forward so bear with us.

WEATHER-WISE FOR TODAY; Looks good with sunny skies and fairly light winds. Rain and possibly a few thunderstorms will return late Saturday night through Monday.

*Overall, we’ll be ok so here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Today- Sunny. Highs in the upper 70s. North winds 5 to 10 mph.

Tonight-Mostly clear. Lows in the lower 50s. East winds around 5 mph, becoming southwest after midnight.

HAVE A GOOD DAY!
